Dani Alves, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli have been surprisingly included in Brazil’s 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
There was, however, no place for Roberto Firmino, Matheus Cunha, Renan Lodi and Roger Ibanez, who all made Tite’s previous squad.
Dani Alves missed Russia 2018 due to injury. The star of a FIFA+ docuseries, Dani Crazy Dream, the defender turned 39 in May and is currently playing his club football in Mexico, but that did not dissuade coach Tite.
Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli have both been in fine form for Arsenal, while Matheus Cunha has been struggling at Atletico Madrid.
They will join the likes of Alisson, Thiago Silva, Casemiro, Raphinha, Neymar and Vinicius Junior on the flight to Qatar.
Brazil will begin their Group G campaign against Serbia on 24 November, before facing Switzerland and Cameroon. If Tite’s team get through the first phase, they will face opponents from Group H, which includes Ghana, Korea Republic, Portugal and Uruguay, in the Round of 16.
A Seleção are currently the bookmakers’ favourites to win Qatar 2022, followed by, in order, Argentina, France, England, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium and Denmark.
